Check Chain TNBC Edition
Check Chain TNBC Edition
Carry a reminder that could save a life. Each bead on this keychain represents the approximate average size of a breast tumor when it’s found:
10 mm — often detected on a mammogram
15 mm — often found by a provider
20 mm — usually discovered when large enough to feel
Designed to spark awareness and encourage monthly self-checks, The Check Chain is both meaningful and beautiful. Made with smooth, durable silicone beads designed to be touched and felt. A portion of every purchase is donated to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
This special edition is purple for Triple Negative (TNBC). What is triple negative breast cancer? The type of breast cancer is determined by the presence or absence of receptors, proteins that live inside or on the surface of a cell and bind to something in the body to cause the cell to react. You may have heard of the estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Triple negative breast cancer lacks all three of these receptors which is how it gets its name. It tends to be aggressive, tends to impact young women and women of color. This is the type Mackenzie Matthews had.
