a little bit about me
A colorado girl committed to the creative process, captivated by beauty, inspired by faith.
I want to use all the gifting I have in this life. Everything I've been given, all that I am, I want on the table to be spent in the best sense of the word. I was challenged recently, thinking about legacy. The question asked, "Is it possible the things you focus your time and energy on will be meaningless in 100 years?" It caused me pause. I am still pondering this, but I have come to believe that the presence and love I give to people, and the art I make both have a shot to impact the world beyond my lifetime.
As a child I was quickly captivated by visual art. I grew up watching my dad paint mountain scenes and portraits of Elvis. My mom lived creativity outside of the box with design, color and texture, always rearranging our living room, creatively feeding us, throwing parties and including me in her dreams. My parents faithfully placed me before new challenges and fanned flames of potential in me. I've had talented teachers who led me and faithful encouragers who have walked alongside me. Like any artist, I didn't get here by entirely by accident. I have been invested in and i am deeply grateful. I had the privilege of studying at Colorado State University and Santa Chiara in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy.
the inspiration and the struggle
My world is beautiful and fast and full, and I am fighting to show up to make art. I am committed to the creative process because of what it creates in me, and what it can do for you. I create subject matter that blows my mind, often water and sky or light and vibrant color. I hope to share some of the wonder I have found in my world through the art that I make. My faith is inseparable from my world view, and through it I have found a constant source of encouragement and purpose. I don't always love the creative process, I struggle often, and some works don't turn out so awesome. But I have found power in showing up, in stepping out, and creating.
Graduate of Colorado State University, Visual Art, 2010.
